"Over 40 years of Breeding and Hunting Fine Plotts"
"When the tailgate drops the bear better get in the nearest tree!"
That’s probably not the famous hound hunting quote that you’re used to but it’s our attitude about quality bear dogs. No bear hunter is worth anymore than his present pack of bear dogs. All of us love to tell stories about the good old days but even our best Plotts of the past can’t tree a bear for us now. That’s why we work hard to never allow a generation of dogs to pass without having a new generation in the wings. Let us introduce you to some fine Plotts that presently “bear” the Houston Valley standard.

“PR” Tarlton’s Hunter
DOB - 6/15/1993 (“PR” Jones’ Mountain Magic Bocephus X “PR” Tarlton’s Mollie II)
Every dog is known for it’s strong points and Hunter earned his reputation as a “catch dog”. Gene White, of White Hollow Kennel - Knoxville, TN, says that Hunter is one of the heaviest bred White Hollow Junior dogs alive today. Hunter is now retired due to old age and a bear injury. This dog’s pedigree is packed with great bear dogs. At Stud.

“PR” Lowery’s Dan (Rusty)
DOB - 12/28/93 (“PR” NtCh Ch Ja Mac’s Josh X “PR” Lowery’s Suzy)
Rusty, owned by Charles, is a top all around Plott. His sire, Josh, was directly out of Nt Ch Ch Walker’s W. Va. Black Gold. Curtis Walker says that “Black Gold” was the best all around dog that he’s ever owned or seen of any breed. We have some top young dogs out of Rusty. At Stud.

“PR” Bear Ridge Fred
DOB - 10/18/99 (“PR” Bear Ridge Roscoe X “PR” Lowery’s Brindle Pepper)
Fred is the best dog that Rocky has ever owned! He is very balanced and is a top strike and track dog. At Stud.

“PR” Tarlton’s Anne
(“PR” Lowery Shotgun Toby X “PR” Lowery’s Raven)
Anne is Berry’s top dog! It would be no exaggeration to say that Anne is one of the best bear dogs in our neck of the woods. This hard catching female has proven herself as a reproducer. We have several young dogs out of Anne that are following in their mother’s paw prints including Tarlton’s Dixie and Tarlton’s Ruby.

“PR” Lowery’s Houston Valley Comit
DOB - 1/26/02 (“PR” DryCrek Jag X “PR” Tarlton’s Star Mtn Jett)
Comit, owned by Charles, is a young dog that’s coming on strong. His grandsire is GrNtCh GrCh Roark’s Plum Creek Earp.

“PR” Lowery Shotgun Toby
DOB - 7/21/92 (“PR” GrNtCh GrCh Pearcy’s Goldwater Hide X Ch Roark’s Plum Creek Dolly)
Toby was bought by Rocky as a pup and eventually sold to bear hunters on the east coast of North Carolina. We have now brought him back to Houston Valley for breeding purposes. In a three generation pedigree this dog has GrNt Ch GrCh Pearcy’s Goldwater Luke, World Nite Ch GrNtCh Kansas Sizzlin Heat, GrNtCh Sexton’s Cold Water Toby, GrNtCh Ch Walkup’s Montana Scout, GrNtCh Cannon’s Kansas Joe Boy, GrNtCh Shortridge’s Queen, and GrNtCh GrCh Howell’s Bayou Shorty. At Stud.
The dogs pictured above are only a few of the dogs we presently own. We invite you to stop for a visit and see some of our other quality Plotts. We don’t have fancy kennels but we can show you some “real deal” bear dogs.
Recommendation:
"I’ve known Berry Tarlton for about ten years. He has always been a Plott man and he has the dogs to prove it. Berry’s dogs will run, catch, and tree as hard as anybody’s I have hunted with."
